PlantSuccess Newsletter

Volume III, Issue 8

2 April 2003

Dear Subscriber:

To my mind, the war in Iraq has brought forth the full range of journalists, reminding me of a famous quote from Albert Einstein (1879-1955): “The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits."

I contrast my view of the press with my view of the speakers we recruit: innovative managers from leaders in the process industry who volunteer their time, energy and experience to share with other participants at PlantSuccess. A quote attributed to Aristotle (384-322 B.C.): “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit,” applies to these very generous professionals.

Soon, the cache of 75+ presentations (available for review at www.PlantSuccess.com), the basis for lively discussions at previous PlantSuccess conferences, will be enhanced substantially. We will add the successful experience cited by representatives from:

AVEVA

ExxonMobil

Bayer

FIATECH

Black & Veatch

Fluor

CDM

Ivara

CII

J.D. Edwards

Intel

OSIsoft

Dow Chemical

SAIC

DuPont

Shell

Eastman Chemical

Join us as they add their experience with the successful implementation of engineering IT and its impact on business drivers, work processes and integration requirements.

"Wisdom is the power to put our time and our knowledge to the proper use," a quote by IBM founder Thomas J. Watson (1874-1956), certainly applies to speakers at PlantSuccess.

In addition to first-class speakers and moderators, PlantSuccess attracts an experienced and responsible audience, most of whom probably share one of my favorite quotes from one of the original technologists, Henry Ford (1863-1947): "Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right."

Join us at the Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake, 9-10 April for PlantSuccess Gulf Coast 2003. Join innovative managers with the industry’s leaders and their presentations on the successful implementation of engineering IT and its impact on business drivers, work practices and integration requirements.

Revisit the Vision of Enterprise Solutions

Although most large corporations began implementing enterprise systems in the mid- to late-1990s, millions of dollars and many years later few have achieved the benefits they expected. According to Accenture’s research, a clear majority have achieved half or less of the benefits they targeted.
