Dear
Subscriber:
The final
in the current series of regional PlantSuccess conferences will be held June
5th, co-located with A/E/C SYSTEMS 2002, at the
Anaheim (Calif) Convention Center. We will take advantage of SYSTEMS’
daily keynote – a panel discussion with Buddy Cleveland,
senior VP and general manager with Bentley Systems and Phil Bernstein,
VP of Autodesk’s Building Industry Division, led by Dave Weisberg.
In
a short period of time, PlantSuccess has built a reputation for outstanding
content. As with Philadelphia, Chicago and Houston, the Anaheim
venue includes an outstanding lineup of innovative, successful and managers from FIATECH, County
Sanitation Districts of LA County, Parsons Infrastructure & Technology,
IPA North America and LEAN
Project Consulting.
All sessions
are actively moderated for an extensive Q&A and a discussion
of the value proposition tied to each presentation. There are always
lessons learned, knowledge shared and value received by those who participate.

Technology Forecasts
from Battelle
What advances
in technology will we see in the next ten years? Battelle’s selection
for the Top Ten lists, in each of eight categories, is based on the criteria:
Some of
choices of the Battelle team:
Top Strategic
Technology by 2005 – Human genome mapping
and genetic-based personal identification and diagnostic will lead to preventive
treatment of diseases and cures for specific cancers
Most Innovative
Products by 2006 – Personalized Computers.
It will recognize your voice and follow your voice commands and it will include
a variety of security and service tools to personalize the computer for its
individual owner.
Top Challenges
and Opportunities for 2008 – Global Business Competition.
… companies will have to improve and expand their efforts at finding
technology, acquiring it and putting it to work around the world. They must
use this new technology to improve efficiency, reduce waste and energy needs
and create new products and services.
Strategic
Technologies for 2020 – High-power energy packages.
Developments such as highly advanced batteries, inexpensive fuel cells and
micro-generator of electricity will make many of our electronic products and
appliances highly mobile. Decentralized power sources will be extensive, affordable
and environmentally clean.
