Dear Subscriber:
Our economy continues
to send mixed signals or, perhaps, the signals sent by the economy are getting
mixed reviews. A lot is expected of the consumer; much more in capital
expenditure is needed from the industrial sector. Many claim that now is the
time to make the investment in new technologies and revised business practices
as a way of taking advantage of the eventual economic upturn.
Gaining a better
understanding of our successes with technology implementations, communicating
that understanding and learning from others will put all of us in a better
position of using what we have and preparing for the future.
PlantSuccess is a part of this process through an annual
conference in the Philadelphia area that is focused on owner/operators
discussing their successful use of current technologies to increase ROA and
improve productivity. Now, we are taking this owner-focus on the road with the
first stop in one of the countrys major manufacturing centers Philadelphia.
Join us at the
Philadelphia Airport Marriott, March 6th, for the first of this series. The
conference begins at 8:00, concludes at 2:45 and includes breakfast and lunch.
Most important are the speakers, with most coming from the plant. This
experience will be joined by a staff consultant to AIChEs CCPS for a
presentation on an issue that has become increasingly important to all of us
security.

2001
and the Future of Technology
MSI lays down an
interesting chronology of some of the major events in the technology sector
during 2001. Of course, the terrorist attacks are there as are events that
impact hardware, software and communications. In some say, all of these events
will impact the future. READ

The End of the
Enterprise Application Era
From AMR Research:
Since 1991, companies have spent over $180B on enterprise applications like
CRM and ERP. Yet these companies still struggle with the same fundamental
challenges: the cost of integration, achieving integration, managing change,
data integrity and poor reporting. If vendors can be convinced to adopt
industry-standard application server technology, CIOs may finally be able to
assemble and manage an integrated suite of applications comprised of an
assortment of products from multiple vendors. READ FULL STORY
